Christoph Antweiler
*1956, cultural anthropologist, is Professor of Southeast Asian Studies at the Institute of Oriental and Asian Studies (IOA) at the University of Bonn. Research on cognition, urban culture, ethnicity, popularization of science, local knowledge and pan-cultural patterns (human universals). His main research region is Southeast Asia, in particular Indonesia. Book publications:Was ist den Menschen gemeinsam? Über Kultur und Kulturen (Darmstadt: WBG, 22012), Inclusive Humanism. Anthropological Basics for a Realistic Cosmopolitanism (Göttingen: V+R Unipress&Taipeh: National Taiwan University Press, 2012), Environmental Uncertainty and Local Knowledge. Antweiler is a member of the Academia Europaea (London) and a member of the International Advisory Board, Humboldt-Forum (Berlin). His hobbies are long travels, the reading of non-anthropologicalscientific books and playing indoor soccer.
