The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HUSO) is an academic organization under the administration of Khon Kaen University, a Public university of Thailand. The administrative structure is comprised of the Dean, who acts as the top administrator, and the Faculty’s Board. Together both sectors determine policies, give advice, and approve the Faculty’s administration and operations by the authorities and duties as stated in KhonKaen University’s Act.
The structure of HUSO is divided into 2 divisions: namely, the Dean’s Office, which is responsible for supporting all administrations and operations of HUSO and the Academic Division which is responsible for administering curriculum and teaching and learning. Both divisions, however, are responsible for administering and operating according to the Faculty’s mission statement concerning academic research and academic service to society and preservation of art and culture.
The Dean’s Office comprises of 13 sections including: (1) General Administration, (2) Policy and Planning, (3) Finance and Accounting, (4) Procurement, (5) Human Resources, (6) Physical Management, (7) Educational Services and Curriculum Development, (8) Graduate Study Services, (9) Student, Arts and Cultural Development, (10) Research and Academic Services} (11) Quality Assurance, (12) Public Relations and International Affairs, and (13) Information Technology.
The Academic Division comprises of 4 academic subject groups including: (1) The Humanities (2) The Social Sciences, The Languages, and (4) The Information and Communication Management.
Other research and community service centers under the administration of HUSO are: (1) The Center for Research on Plurality in the Mekong Region (CERP), (2) The Center for Civil Society and Nonprofit Management (CSNM) and (3) The ASEAN Languages Center (ALC).
